Observations from Wisconsin is a series of 11" x 17" digital paintings created between 2015 and 2016. The people in the paintings are individuals that I observed in different settings across the state of Wisconsin while traveling and visiting events and festivals. I found the subjects relatable; it was captivating to capture these moments of people existing in their everyday lives. The impetus for the work was to develop a skill set in digital painting. I painted well over 50 individual pieces in order to improve my technique. This series was my first attempt at making digital paintings. Some are better than others, and there is definitely room for improvement, but I enjoyed the process and will continue to paint digitally. Below is a sample from the series.
